LIFEJACKET® BENEFITS

The LifeJacket® is a plunger gripper that securely grips the plunger without causing any damage to the elevator equipment. The LifeJacket® protects against several hydraulic failures including valve leaks, cylinder failure or any other depression in oil pressure causing uncontrolled downward movement.

PASSENGER SAFETY

The LifeJacket® protects against any type of uncontrolled downward movement, keeping safe all passengers and all elevator equipment. No damage is incurred by the equipment.

EASY INSTALLATION

The LifeJacket® installs above the cylinder head, encircling the plunger. A crew of two technicians can install a LifeJacket® in 2-3 days.

RESET & RE-USE

The LifeJacket® does not have a limit of the number of times it can be reset and reused. The LifeJacket® was designed to be reset and reused multiple times to ensure the safety of the passengers and equipment.

CODE COMPLIANT

The LifeJacket® plunger gripper complies with the elevator codes regarding plunger grippers to be used in hydraulic elevator systems. The LifeJacket® is an acceptable form to meet the code enforcements across the nation.

REQUIRED MEASUREMENTS

In order for our team to provide a proper quote for the LifeJacket®, the following measurements must be submitted (for more information on, definitions of, or how to properly measure these measurements, please consult the Otis section in the RFQ Form):

  • • Plunger Diameter (PD) - measured to the thousandths of an inch
  • • Buffer Spring Diameter (BSD)
  • • Widest Flange Section Diameter (FD)
  • • Height of Concrete Pedestal (PH)
  • • Width of Concrete Pedestal (PW)
  • • Number of Buffer Springs (BN)
  • • Runby (RB)
  • • Buffer Stroke (BS)
  • • Strike Distance (SD)
  • • Distance Between Buffers (BB)
  • • Distance of highest point of cylinder head to the concrete pedestal (CHP)
THREE LIMITATIONS

The LifeJacket® has three limitations for installation; 1) the piston diameter accommodates 3 1/2" to 8 5/8", 2) the jack head cannot be greater than 17" in diameter, 3) the strike distance (SD) between the bottom of the car and top of the buffer must be 11" or greater.

  • • Distance Between Buffers (BB)
  • • Distance of highest point of cylinder head to top of footer channel (CHF)
  • • Distance of highest point of cylinder head to the pit floor (CHC)
